License Reconciliation
A license reconciliation compares the number of software licenses you own to an inventory of the actual applications installed in your organization, in order to determine one's license compliance status. Ideally, a license reconciliation also takes into account the actual usage of installed licenses, to ensure your organization has not purchased more licenses than are being used.
License reconciliation tools enable you to automate this process by conducting an inventory of all installed programs and reconciling the inventory data with purchasing details. If a license reconciliation shows there are more applications installed than there are licenses purchased, your organization is out of compliance with its licensing agreements, and corrective action must be taken immediately. If you discover that more licenses have been purchased than are actually being used, you may be able to save money by reducing your license count or reallocating licenses to other users.
