Software License Management
Software license management is the process by which organizations ensure they are using their software licenses both legally and to their fullest extent. This generally means determining whether an organization has too few licenses (and is therefore out of compliance with its license agreements), or too many software licenses (and is therefore overspending). More and more, organizations are looking to automated computer inventory and application metering tools to assist with their software license management initiatives. Such tools, at the most basic level, perform inventories of all installed applications, track the usage of each license, and reconcile both inventory and usage data with purchasing details to reveal which applications are under-licensed and which are over-licensed.
