SEATTLE-BASED EXPRESS METRIX HAS BANNER YEAR IN 2005

Company delivers new high-profile customers, market expansion and 31% revenue growth, and release of new IT asset management product

Seattle, WA - Express Metrix, the leader in PC inventory and software usage metering solutions, closed a very successful 2005 with goal-breaking revenue growth, an impressive number of new customers, the release of a powerful new IT asset management tool, and record expansion into the European marketplace.

The company added to its established reputation in 2005 by expanding its satisfied customer base of over 1.8 million users worldwide. Express Metrix added 136 new companies and organizations to its customer rolls last year - including divisions of Citibank, Lockheed Martin, ChevronTexaco, the US Army, Bell Canada, the University of Washington, and the City of Los Angeles.

The company also added two new OEM partners during 2005: BMC, a leading provider of ebusiness systems management software; and, New Boundary Technologies, a provider of automated IT management and security solutions.

Dawson Stoops, Co-founder and CFO of Express Metrix, cites the savings that Express Metrix customers continue to enjoy by using its world-class IT and software asset management (IT/SAM) solutions. "Our customer companies have significantly improved their IT/software balance sheets by using our strategic tools and services," he noted. "Collectively, they've saved millions of dollars, demonstrating that making IT/SAM a priority pays off handsomely in today's competitive marketplace."

2005 was a banner year for Express Metrix from a revenue perspective, as well: the company significantly exceeded its 2005 revenue forecast by 18 percent, coming in at 31 percent growth over 2004. Notably, in 2005 the company also earned a dramatic 66 percent growth rate in the European market over the previous year's figures.

As further evidence of the company's growing influence in the industry, Express Metrix tools and services repeatedly earned recognition from software giant Microsoft during 2005. In July, Express Metrix was awarded the prestigious "Microsoft Partner of the Year Award" at the 2005 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference. Winning the Licensing Solutions Competency Category for Software Asset Management (SAM) Technology Innovation increased recognition of Express Metrix as a leader in this still-expanding space.

"Express Metrix has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the important role software asset management plays in managing an organization's IT portfolio," Juan Fernando Rivera, Microsoft's Director of Software Asset Management said at the time of the award. "Express Metrix's tool is a solution that enterprises can count on to effectively manage their software assets."

"Microsoft recognizing our contributions with this prestigious award really confirmed our belief in the growing importance of the SAM process in effective corporate financial and IT strategy," Kris Barker, Express Metrix's CEO, stated. "In 2006, we'll be actively working to spread awareness of IT/SAM's many benefits to customers, alongside Microsoft and other Microsoft partners."

Adding to its reputation as a leader in the IT/SAM category, on August 3, 2005 Express Metrix was officially recognized as a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner in the ISV/Software Solutions Competency. This means Express Metrix has been placed among the top level of Microsoft partners, having built its best-of-breed product (Express Software Manager Professional™) using the latest Microsoft technologies, and having passed stringent product testing by a third party.

"Development of our product was based on feedback from thousands of our customers around the world. We're now offering customers a complete IT/SAM solution by providing critical PC inventory and software usage information that serves as the basis for strategic management of corporate IT and software assets," Barker stated. "This solution can improve security by locking down the desktop, managing software upgrades, reducing time and cost for helpdesk support, and ensuring licensing compliance to reduce legal and financial risk."

A growing number of Express Metrix customers have taken advantage of the product since its release last year. "With Express Metrix Software Manager Professional™, we've saved $30,000 to $40,000 just by not having to buy software we didn't need," according to Keith Phillips of Attorney's Title Insurance. "The investment paid for itself within a year with the reduction of software costs."

In 2005, Express Metrix continued its active involvement with influential industry organizations, as well - among them the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM), the Business Software Alliance (BSA), and ECPmedia.

Also, this past December, Express Metrix signed on as a founding member of the International Business Software Management Alliance (IBSMA), alongside Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, McAfee, Centennial Software, CA and Altiris. IBSMA assists SAM professionals with developing and promoting best practices, and helps software managers meet their profession's challenges with a curriculum of professional education, certification and networking programs.

The Express Metrix forward-looking vision extends to its commitment to the community, as well. In addition to donating to both tsunami and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts last year, Express Metrix staff members were active in numerous community and charity organizations, among them Habitat for Humanity, the YWCA, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation Peloton Project, which works to enhance the quality of life for those living with, through, and beyond cancer.

"Given our progress in 2005, we're that much more eager to tackle our projects and goals in the new year," Barker said. "More and more businesses here and overseas are realizing the many solid benefits of utilizing strategic IT/SAM tools, and this translates into good news for everyone. Here's to a very productive 2006."
