BIGFIX®, INC. TO DEPLOY EXPRESS SOFTWARE IDENTIFICATION DATABASE™ TO BETTER IDENTIFY MORE THAN 100,000 APPLICATION EXECUTABLES
Seattle, WA - Express Metrix®, a leader in IT asset management solutions, today announced that it has entered into a strategic, long-term OEM agreement with BigFix, Inc., through which BigFix will license Express Metrix's industry-leading Express Software Identification Database (ESID). BigFix, which provides large enterprise customers with a next generation, converged IT management and security platform, will use the ESID to enhance its software license management capabilities. Developed over the past 12 years, the ESID is a collection of signatures of more than 100,000 application executables from more than 3,000 vendors; one of the largest of its kind.
Express Metrix and BigFix each offer asset management software solutions that inventory the software and hardware assets of a company by utilizing the ESID to portray an accurate snapshot of a company's IT assets. Information in the ESID is used to comprehensively recognize, identify and report software titles, and can be licensed by any number of innovative businesses to improve the quality and depth of their own service offerings.
With expanded application recognition capabilities from the ESID, the BigFix platform, with real-time visibility, discovery and control capabilities, assures IT managers that all assets, even those with intermittent connectivity, comply with relevant standards and software license management initiatives. BigFix is renowned for the scalability of its software, with several customer deployments of 100,000 or more endpoints.

PC audit tools that lack these capabilities cannot deliver an accurate portrait of a company's software assets.

Through these license agreements the ESID has been deployed to an estimated 15 million desktops.
