Former WRQ Employees Launch Express Metrix, a New Company Dedicated to IT Management Solutions

Express Metrix Purchases Asset Management Product Line From WRQ

SEATTLE - Sept. 15, 2000 - Three talented, long-term employees from WRQ Inc., a global leader in enterprise integration and connectivity software solutions, today announced the creation of a new corporation, Express Metrix, LLC. Express Metrix will support and promote the Express line of IT asset management solutions. The former WRQ employees, who played pivotal roles in the evolution of the Express product, purchased the Express product line and acquired its base of nearly 4,000 customers from WRQ. WRQ will retain a minority interest in Express Metrix.

"This new company gives us the opportunity to truly focus on solutions that enable IT managers to maintain and control their computing assets," said Kris Barker, co-founder and chief executive officer of Express Metrix. "As we aggressively develop the product line, we will continue to maintain the quality focus and customer commitment for which WRQ is known. And, unlike many start-ups, we have a solid, full-featured product already on more than 1 million desktops."

Agreement Allows WRQ to Focus on EAI

"WRQ is committed to continually evaluating the most strategic approach to meeting customer demands," said Craig McKibben, president of WRQ. "This agreement provides a seamless transition for our Express customers and enables WRQ to focus on its core businesses - enterprise application integration (EAI) and host access. The co-founders of Express Metrix are senior professionals and trusted former employees with the experience, expertise and vision to successfully lead their business into the future."

Express Metrix to Build on Essential IT Asset Management Solutions

Express Software Manager 5.0 is a suite of asset management tools that enables organizations to reduce costs and increase the value of their IT investments. The software suite provides a streamlined solution for small to midsized companies to gain an in-depth analysis of desktop PCs and the applications residing on them. Users can plan and execute software migrations, ensure licensing compliance and legality, and create and enforce desktop standards.

"Express Metrix provides easy-to-use solutions that allow companies to take the first step in becoming software-compliant," said Peter Beruk, vice president of anti-piracy programs for the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). "Piracy of business application software represents lost revenue of $12.2 billion worldwide. In an effort to make it simple for organizations to conduct software audits, we offer tools like Express Inventory as a convenient download from the SIIA Web site."

Express Metrix will leverage the technical support, development expertise and overall business management experience of the former WRQ employees. The company will be led by founders Kris Barker, chief executive officer, Dawson Stoops, chief financial officer, and Jeff Kelsey, chief information officer, all of whom contributed to the development of the Express product line. In addition, other former WRQ employees include Sheila Callahan and Shelly Shay, who will lead the marketing and sales divisions, respectively, as well as Chris Lindberg, Brian McDonald and Susanna Moore.
