Installation Instructions
After running the Express Requirements Checker and clicking Continue, Express Software Manager setup will run:
- Accept the welcome dialog. Read the welcome dialog and click Next.
- Accept the license agreement. Read and accept the license agreement and click Next.
- Input your customer information. Input your customer information and click Next.
- Accept the default feature selection. It is recommended that all components be installed on a single workstation. Accept the default of installing all Express Software Manager components (unless you are selectively installing components to different computers) and click Next.
- Input information required to create the Express Database. Accept the default Express Database name, ExpressDB, unless you want to modify it. Creating the Express Database requires administrative access to the SQL Server; supply the administrator username (typically sa) and password and click Next.
- Input a password for the Express database account and accept the evaluation license key. Setup will create an account on your database server for use by Express Software Manager. Accept the account username, Express, unless you want to modify it, and input a password for the Express database account. Accepting the evaluation license key gives you use of Express Software Manager for 30 days on up to 25 client machines. Click Next.
- Click install to begin. After collecting all required information, Express Software Manager setup will install each selected component. Click Install. Several component installs issue commands to setup utilities running in the Windows console; it is normal to see several DOS boxes displayed during installation as this occurs.
- Start the Express Administrative Console. Once installation has completed, click Finish. (You may be asked to reboot your machine if certain system files have been updated.) To start using Express Software Manager, launch the Administrative Console from the Express Software Manager folder in the Start | Programs menu.
