PC Inventory
A PC inventory involves the collection of both software application and hardware configuration details from PCs and servers and ideally reconciles this data with associated purchasing details. While it is possible to conduct a computer inventory manually, it is generally very time-consuming and error-prone, especially if there are more than just a few PCs. Automated inventory tools significantly reduce the time involved in conducting a PC inventory.
PC inventory software typically collects application data including attributes such as application title, version, product ID, file size, date, path, and whether the installation is standalone or part of a suite. A PC inventory should also reveal hardware details including (but not limited to) computer name, manufacturer, CPU type and speed, memory, available disk space, network card address and manufacturer, serial number, and any custom hardware parameters you specify.
