Express Software Manager version 6.0 and higher

Summary
Express Software Manager 6.2 and higher are fully functional in Windows XP environments. In versions 6.0 and 6.1, the Express client had some limitations on Windows XP workstations, and customers using those versions can obtain an updated Express client. This technical note explains the limitations of the Express client in versions 6.0 and 6.1, and contains information on obtaining the updated client.

Express Software Manager 6.2
Express Software Manager 6.2 fully supports Windows XP.

Express Software Manager 6.1
Express Software Manager 6.1 fully supports Windows XP with the following exception: the Express metering client that shipped with version 6.1 does not prevent application launches. It warns the user if an unauthorized application is being launched, but it will not stop the launch.

An updated Express client for Windows XP is available for download by customers with current Express maintenance contracts. For more information, see technical note 1576.

Express Software Manager 6.0
Express Software Manager 6.0 supports Windows XP with the following exceptions:

• The original 6.0 Express inventory client does not install on Windows XP and must be run from a network server in order to inventory a Windows XP machine.

• The original 6.0 Express meter client does not install or run on Windows XP.

Other Versions
Express Metrix has not tested versions of Express Software Manager prior to 6.0 on Windows XP. We strongly recommend that customers who want to use Express with Windows XP use the latest release. If you are using an earlier version of Express, contact Express Metrix or your Express Metrix business partner for an upgrade.
