This technical note describes how to obtain and install the updated Express client for Windows XP.

Note: This note will be updated regularly as new information is available.

The Updated Express Clients for Windows XP
Express Software Manager 6.0 or 6.1
Express Metrix has updated versions of the Express clients (inventory and metering) for use with Windows XP. Download the file containing these updated clients if you have Windows XP machines and:

• You have Express Manager 6.0.

  The Express clients included with Express Software Manager 6.0 could not be installed successfully on Windows XP. The 6.0 Express inventory client could be used with Windows XP only by running the client from a network server. The 6.0 Express metering client could not be used with Windows XP.

• You have Express Manager 6.1.

  The Express metering client included with Express Software Manager 6.1 could not prevent application launches.

• You have obtained an earlier, beta version of the Express XP clients.

  A beta version of the Express clients for Windows XP (with limited functionality) was available by request between the release of Express Software Manager 6.0 and Express Software Manager 6.2. Any instance of the beta client should be replaced with the new files.

Installing the New Client Files
To install the most up-to-date Express client files for Windows XP:

1. Download the zipped file, XPClient.zip, from:

http://www.expressmetrix.com/support/support_downloads.asp

Note: If you have not already logged into the Support site, you will be prompted for your VPA number.

2. Unzip the downloaded file on your Administrative Console workstation.

3. Follow the instructions in the XP_readme.txt file to install the Windows XP Express client.
