Daylight Saving Time Change (2007) Impact on Express Software Manager
Technical Note 2017
Last Reviewed 08-Mar-2007

Applies To
Express Software Manager version 7.x

Summary
Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March, three weeks earlier than usual, and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November, one week later than usual. Express Software Manager relies on your computer's operating system to obtain the proper Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) date and time, so there is nothing within Express Software Manager to be fixed or adjusted.

Impact on Express Software Manager

Details
Express Software Manager stores all date/time values in UTC and will, therefore, continue to operate as expected assuming the appropriate Microsoft operating system updates (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst) are applied to all machines on which an Express Software Manager component is installed. However, as Microsoft states on their web site:

"Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, the time zone settings for your computer's system clock may be incorrect during this four-week period."

UTC date and time must be uniform between client and server-side component machines. If the required Microsoft updates are not applied, Express Software Manager may report incorrect client activity dates and times or fail to collect data.
